The Last Jedi

I saw the film and it's fantastic. I would love to work on something Star Wars one day. Officially I mean. Adam Driver is a beast.

Collider Heroes 200th Episode

In honor of the 200th Episode of Collider Heroes. I have put together a little something to mark the occasion. I did the same for episode 100 and was lucky enough to have been asked back to do something for 200. This piece has a couple of little nods to the killing joke by Alan Moore, Brian Bolland, Richard Starkings & John Higgins.

Superman

Superman is one of my favourites. I'm surprised I don't draw him more. I saw Justice League, it was fun. Plenty to enjoy and plenty to work on for the next one.

Supergirl

So I woke up this morning and the seriously talented Kevin Wada had done some Supergirl Costume Exploration sketches and colour work. https://twitter.com/kevinwada They set the internet on fire.
Everyone had a pass at his work and I was no different.
Here is my take on one of his designs. (I am trying to get better at drawing the female anatomy. This didn't turn out too bad) How bad ass is that jacket!?

Black Panther

Man that Black Panther trailer is amazing. It gives away some stuff that would have been cool to see unfold in the cinema but otherwise it was great. I can't wait to see this film. I never drew BP before so here is a little art to show my appreciation for the film.

Commission

I haven't done a traditional piece in awhile and wanted to give it a blast for a little contest I was having over on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/artofcolmgriffin/

I love DC's Blue Beetle as a character and a design so I put together this little piece.
Here are the stages I worked on.

Carlow

Carlow GAA has had a great run in the championship this year. Better than we have in a long long time. The whole county got behind them and it was great to see. I have a few friends on the team so I did a little painting for them.
Well done lads we look forward to next year. #CarlowRising #CarlowGAA #GAA #Carlow

Issue 4 Cover

So at the moment I am working on the colour for issue 4 of my creator owned book. Only 2 issues left. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. With this cover I wanted to do something special, I have a comic book I got from my dad in April 1989. It's actually the oldest thing I own. I remember the day he got it for me. With my book, I wanted to pay homage to the 1989's cover and my old man. The cover ties in great with the story from my own issue.
Here is a little side by side.

Creator Owned Book

Here is a quick Update on how things are shaping up with my Creator Owned Book. I am almost finished all of issue 4 of a 6 issue mini series. The book is taking time but that's alright because I am busy with some TV projects  this year too. Here are a couple of fully rendered out of order pages to wet your appetite. Let me know what you think.

The Weekly Planet

I listen to this podcast every week and these two lads have me in stitches. Both very funny guys. I did this at a time when I didn't know what Mr Sunday Movies looked like. Still, at least we have internet celebrity Nick Mason's face in there to help keep the mystery alive.

Iron Fist

Poor Finn Jones has been taking a bashing from critics for his portrayal of Danny Rand in Netflix's Iron Fist. The truth is that the show is good. (IMO). Now is it as good as Daredevil season 1 or 2 or Jessica Jones, then no it's not. It is however, just as good as Luke cage though and Luke Cage was great. I recommend you give it a shot. Anyways here is something quick and inky. I might update this later. Put some more time into it.

Logan

I saw this film and it stuck with me for days after. It is fantastic. Not a perfect film but a very strong film that I will see it again. Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart and the rest of the cast were great and I am sad to see this being the last one with Jackman and Stewart but the finished up with one hell of a bang.

Spider-Man (UPDATE)

UPDATE: I Changed the head because I wasn't happy with how it looked.

I wanted to do a rendition of Spider-man like the old Steve Ditko/John Romita comics. I haven't done one like that before. I went for a Vintage feel. I like how it turned out although I may change the head as it feels a little weird to me. The background is based of one from the great J Scott Campbell.

Just doing a quick bit of art today on lunch. I love the invincible books, the story will be wrapping up this year and that's a shame but it was a great run. I would like to see this as a live action feature one day. Anyways here it is.

Sneak Peek

So as you know I am working on my creator owned mini series. 6 issues that will hopefully lead to more. I have 4 covers done and am finishing up issue 3 as we speak. I have to balance the comic work with my Film and TV work, as well as every day life but I am enjoying it and look forward to having my own books out later this year.

Here is a little preview for issue 2.
